I’m always on the search for great inspiration. Today, my inspiration comes from Brighton, England based photographer Cassia Beck and her vintage inspired photography. I love the retro pastel color palette and the washed out aging effect that is used for her prints. The simplicity of her subjects. textures, backdrops and lighting is stunning. An Affair to Remember, starring Cary Grant and Deborah Kerr, is a must see for any classic movie buff like me. The film is full of wit, humor, and romance. Nicky and Terry meet on a cruiseship, both destined to marry their wealthy partners. They quickly fall in love on the Atlantic, then decide to reunite in 6 months at the top of the Empire State Building. What I find amazing about this movie is that you could pluck the storyline from 1957 and place it in modern times without a problem.
This film is close to my heart because my husband and I met under very similar circumstances, falling hopelessly in love while in a distant country, then trying desperately to pull our two worlds together. This pendant is dedication to our belief in love at first sight, fate, and the happily ever after.

Before the days of video games and social networking, there was Bingo. I remember my grandmother, always dressed in her best, going to the local Bingo Hall. She would return happy or sad, because she had either won or lost very very badly. I couldn’t wait until I was old enough to go to the Bingo hall with her. The joy of winning money while playing a game was so thrilling to me. By the time I was old enough, modern games came into play and shut down most of the halls in our neighborhood. One day when I was 24, I finally decided to visit a Bingo hall. The nostalgia was amazing. Although the halls were all automated by computer and they no longer reeked of cigarettes, I could still imagine my grandmother there, furiously dabbing away, quietly cursing under her breath.

The Blue Bird or L’Oiseau Bleu is a French fairy tale, very similar to our well known Cinderella. Fiordelisa, the daughter of a wealthy king, was in love with Prince Charming. Her step-sister, Turritella, was horribly jealous that the Prince favored Fiordelisa instead of her. Along with her fairy godmother, they turned the prince into a bluebird and Fiordelisa was locked away in the castle tower. The bluebird would visit the princess, bringing her jewels and gifts. The queen soon found out and locked the bluebird away in a thorned tree. After the king’s death, the people of his kingdom turned on the queen and demanded the release of Fiordelisa. Once released, she was proclaimed the new queen and set off in search of her Prince Charming.
The bluebird is a mythical symbol often portraying happiness, prosperity, renewal, and good health. This tile represents those qualities and a story in which we all live happily ever after.

Remember the 90′s? We sure do. Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Beverly Hills 90210 (the original…yes, kids, there was an original), and Blossom. You know you wore acid wash jeans, scrunchies, and fanny packs. And who can forget all the catch phrases, like “da bomb”, “fly, guy” and saying “not” after everything? This pendant is a throwback to the 90′s, lest we never forget.
I am a member of a popular online forum for women and their babies. We discuss everything from conception to birth to potty training. It has been a great source of support, especially when I was pregnant.
Much of the women on the boards are lucky and blessed to have their new bundles of joy. But there are a small few who haven’t been as blessed. Problems range from the inability to conceive to cot death. When such a tragedy happens on the board, there is an out pour of support, and the most common words of comfort are “be kind to yourself”. While we are in the midst of personal turmoil, we always blame ourselves the most.
We created this pendant for anyone who is in need of it, as a reminder to be kind to yourself and to look to the future for hope.
